Predators and Prey

Interactions between species often end in one organism being eaten. The organism that is eaten is known as the prey, while the organism that doest the eating is called predator. For example, when a cheetah catches and eats a gazelle, the cheetah is the predator and the gazelle is the prey.

Prey Adaptions

Different organisms have different ways of evading their predators. Some roll with a squad, others camouflage, and others are brightly colored to advertise their poison. For example, the Poison Dart Frog. This frog is very brightly colored with what is called a warning coloration. Predators see this coloration and know to avoid.

Predator Adaptions

In order to stay alive, the predator much catch the prey. Predators have a long list of ways to catch their desired prey, whether they rely on their abilities or their methods is completely up to them. Going back to the cheetah and gazelle, the gazelle is very fast, however, the cheetah has adapted to be able to run the gazelle down.
