Ecosystem Services

Ecosystems provide 'services' for all of us. These services are taken for granted most of the time. Things that include, protection from UV rays, water/air purification, even protection from erosion.

While we do take these for granted, humans can become a damage factor for these natural gifts, often times they are severely threatened. Things such as runoff pesticides, pollution, introduction of non-native species, deforestation, wetland destruction, and many other things cause the ecosystem to become 'cut off'.

While ecosystems can not exactly be replicated, science is beginning to understand more on how they work, while there is still much to learn on the subject. Questions arise who's answers lie in the development and research of provisions to help to protect the ecosystems who's services we depend so dearly on.
